The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., also known as DCF, is currently offering unpaid internships for the Fall semester to college students. This is a great opportunity for students who are majoring in social work, psychology, information systems, business management, computer technology, human resources, legal, or any related field. The internship provides field experience that can be used for college credit and gives students the chance to gain real-world experience in their chosen field of study.
The internship is available in various Local and Area Offices, as well as in the CP&P and DCF Central Offices. The student interns may be responsible for providing direct and indirect services in these offices.

- Any driving under the influence conviction within the past five years

Office: Legal Affairs
The intern for the Office of Legal and Legislative Affairs will have the opportunity to work on various tasks within several units. Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate professionally with different agencies are expected for this position. The intern will also have the chance to conduct legal research and summarize Appellate and Supreme Court Decisions that impact the department. Additionally, the intern will work closely with two specific units within the Office of Legal Affairs.
The Administrative Hearings Unit (AHU) is responsible for processing written statewide requests for administrative appeals. This includes appeals regarding substantiated and established findings of abuse/neglect, Office of Licensing actions, relative resource denials, DDD eligibility and service needs, and adoption/KLG subsidy denials. The AHU ensures that appeals are administered according to applicable statute and administrative code. The intern will assist in reviewing cases and analyzing documentation to determine appeal eligibility. They will also assist in writing Final Agency Decisions based on the decision made by the Administrative Law Judge after an Office of Administrative Law hearing.
The intern will also work closely with the immigration unit, which provides assistance to Department staff regarding immigration issues. This includes educating local offices and other Department employees on topics such as special immigrant juvenile status, U-Visas, and Division policies and practices surrounding immigration. The unit also networks with other local, state, and federal agencies to provide access to immigration services for clients.
