Summary:
The New York State Unified Court System is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Court Attorney-Referee at the Westchester Supreme Court. This is a non-competitive and confidential position with a base salary of $126,278 plus a location pay of $4,775. Applicants must have admission to the New York State Bar and either 3 years of service as an Associate Court Attorney or 8 years of relevant legal experience after admission to the Bar.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a special referee and research and analyze complex legal issues in civil and criminal cases
- May supervise court attorneys and support staff in one or more courts within a county, judicial district, or department
- Serve in a confidential capacity and work independently with substantial independence
- Duties may include drafting decisions, conducting hearings, taking testimony, and writing confidential memoranda
- Travel may be required throughout the 9th Judicial District
- Preference given to applicants with experience in civil litigation and strong writing skills
Qualifications:
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- 3 years of service as an Associate Court Attorney OR 8 years of relevant legal experience after admission to the Bar
