What Will You Do as an Intern?

As an intern at the AGO, you will be assigned to one of the various divisions within the office, including the Civil Division and Financial Services Section. You will work on projects and assignments that will provide real-world work experience and teach skills applicable to many areas of legal practice. Some tasks you may be responsible for include:

- Writing trial and appellate briefs
- Conducting witness and victim interviews
- Researching questions of law on active cases
- Reviewing case files and investigations
- Appearing and arguing in court proceedings and taking depositions (under the supervision of a staff attorney)

In addition to hands-on work experience, you will also have the opportunity to network with attorneys, state offices, and judges, as well as interact with clients. The AGO also offers trips and tours to various locations, such as federal and state courts, prisons, and crime laboratories.

How to Apply

The AGO's internship program primarily focuses on law students, but some sections may also accept undergraduate interns. Internships are available during the summer, fall, and spring semesters and can be paid and/or used for school credit. On-campus interviews are conducted at Missouri law schools, as well as other law schools. Check with your school's career development office for application deadlines and interview dates.
