Litigation Docket Assistant Job Description:
- Provide litigation docket and case management support to timekeepers and secretaries in the firm
- Review and respond to emails in Docket mailbox within 24 hours
- Enter and maintain information in docket software database and ensure accuracy of due dates and relevant case documents
- Communicate with courts and agencies for case status updates
- Perform in-person runs to local courts and agencies for filings, research, and payments
- Conduct electronic filing and online research
- Respond to audit letter inquiries and provide formal reports on pending litigation
- Obtain and return receipts for case-related costs
- Identify and recommend changes to docket policies and procedures
- Provide backup support to Docket Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, Associate's degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in a law firm, specifically with docket or similar functions
- Computer proficiency, including knowledge of docket and document management software
- Familiarity with the litigation process
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone etiquette
- Ability to work independently and develop working relationships with various departments and individuals
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with Rules of Civil Procedure for State, Federal, and Municipal Courts
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team
- Ability to handle tasks under pressure
- Flexibility with work schedule
