Responsibilities Represent clients in court and before governmental agencies Handle all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, motions, hearings, depositions, and trials Collaborate with clients and team members to develop and implement litigation strategies Contribute to the legal team's ongoing efforts to create, improve, and operationalize internal processes, best practices, and commercial templates Deliver timely, cost-effective, and technically correct legal advice in a user-friendly and decisive manner on a wide range of legal, strategic, tactical, and operational issues Support the law firm's community efforts, such as events to help the less fortunate Willingness to travel to courts in the Tri-county area (Wayne, Oakland, & Macomb Counties) Learn more than a typical associate attorney for a large firm hired to do one thing and one thing only Support "house counsel" positions or case assignment positions where the candidate is the attorney for an indigent offender Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school Admitted to practice law in Michigan 1-3 years of experience in civil and criminal litigation Excellent legal research and writing skills Professional, organized, accountable, self-motivated, while able to work with and manage a team MIDC qualified, or capable of completing the minimum standards for Indigent Criminal Defense Services in the State of Michigan is seeking an experienced legal professional to join their team as an Associate Attorney. The successful candidate must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, be admitted to practice law in Michigan, have 1-3 years of experience in civil and criminal litigation, and excellent legal research and writing skills. The position will pay $60,000 to $65,000 with potential for bonuses and incentives. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for representing clients in court and before governmental agencies, handling all aspects of litigation, collaborating with clients and team members to develop and implement litigation strategies, and delivering timely, cost-effective, and technically correct legal advice in a user-friendly and decisive manner on a wide range of legal, strategic, tactical, and operational issues.
