Job Title: Internship Program, Fall at the Office of the Attorney General
Job Responsibilities:
Interns at the Office of the Attorney General will engage in a variety of tasks depending on the division they are assigned to. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with civil investigations and litigation under state and federal antitrust laws in the Antitrust Division.
- Supporting the enforcement of consumer protection laws against deceptive practices in the Consumer Protection Division.
- Providing legal assistance in criminal appeals and death penalty litigation in the Criminal and Capital Appeals Division.
- Representing the state in various civil lawsuits, including administrative, bankruptcy, corrections, employment, and tort litigation in the Civil Litigation Division.
- Engaging in high-impact cases involving constitutional challenges and complex management in the Complex Litigation Bureau.
- Offering legal services to state agencies in administrative hearings, circuit courts, and appellate courts in the Civil Legal Services Division.
- Aiding in the enforcement of child support orders and representing the Department of Revenue in the Child Support Enforcement Bureau.
- Representing the Florida Department of Revenue in contested tax assessments and other tax-related matters in the Revenue Litigation Bureau.
- Prosecuting potential violations of the Florida Code of Ethics in the Ethics Bureau.
- Enforcing compliance with Florida's Lemon Law in the Lemon Law Arbitration Division.
- Investigating and prosecuting Medicaid fraud and patient abuse in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
- Prosecuting organized criminal activity affecting multiple judicial circuits in the Statewide Prosecution Office.
- Combating cybercrimes related to fraud and identity theft in the Cyber Fraud Enforcement Unit.
- Handling the State’s sensitive litigation and advising on civil and criminal appeals in the Office of the Solicitor General.
Education and Experience Information:
The internship program is open to law students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school. Candidates must be eligible to receive academic credit or participate in a law school-sponsored program. The program is primarily aimed at 2nd and 3rd year law students, who are expected to provide a writing sample during the interview process if selected.
Application Requirements:
- Complete an Application for Internship.
- Submit a résumé.
- Provide a letter from an advisor or university confirming enrollment and eligibility for academic credit or participation in a law school-sponsored program.
- Provide an official transcript; unofficial transcripts are acceptable initially, but official transcripts are needed if chosen.
- For 2nd and 3rd year law students, a writing sample is required at the time of interview if selected.
Internship Details:
- Unpaid position offering academic credit.
- Minimum commitment of 20 hours per week or as prescribed by the college or school.
- Internship opportunities are available in various divisions, depending on agency need.
Legal and Security Requirements:
- Interns will not be compensated or eligible for benefits, except for Worker’s Compensation.
- A preliminary background screening, including a criminal background check, is required.
- Interns must report any adult criminal history information, even if records have been sealed or expunged.
- A "Yes" answer to criminal history questions does not automatically disqualify an applicant; the nature and date of the offense will be considered.

Salary Information:
The internship is unpaid. Interns may receive academic credit or participate in law school-sponsored programs such as Pro Bono Programs, Law School Paid Stipend programs, etc.
