Cooley is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our Firm Operations team. In this role, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing a large number of projects from initiation to completion, following the firm's established project management methodologies and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of successfully leading major projects and possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. With a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $145,000, Cooley offers a comprehensive benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices.
Position overview:
The Project Manager will play a crucial role in Cooley's Firm Operations department, which values strategic thinking and operational excellence. The department is a service organization, and the Project Manager will be evaluated on their ability to provide exceptional service while also fulfilling technical and operational responsibilities. The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to oversee the management of firm operations projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently and effectively.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and implementation of firm operation projects
- Define project goals, tasks, and resource requirements
- Manage and drive a high volume of projects to completion
- Develop and maintain project roles and responsibilities
- Utilize a defined project management methodology for all projects
- Regularly and proactively manage projects in Cooley's project management platform, Workfront
- Identify, assess, and minimize project risks
- Communicate project status to key stakeholders
- Document and communicate meeting minutes, action items/issues, risks, and key decisions
- Monitor progress towards goals and ensure success criteria are met
- Promote the benefits of change and act as a catalyst for change within the firm
- Organize, guide, and direct cross-functional team activities
- Prioritize tasks to meet deliverables and commitments on time
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, and other firm applications
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as needed
- Willingness to travel, as needed
- 2+ years of project management experience, preferably in a technology setting
- Strong project management skills, including sponsor and risk management
- Proven track record of successfully leading major projects from start to finish
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Certified Project Manager or PMP credential
- Prior experience in a law firm setting
