Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Of Counsel to join their team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience, preferably at an AmLaw 100 firm, focusing on product liability and complex commercial litigation. This role involves supervising associates, communicating with clients, drafting legal documents, and contributing to case strategy.

Job Duties:

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
  • Supervise and mentor associates, providing guidance on legal matters and ensuring quality work product.
  • Work collaboratively with experts to develop case strategies and assist with fact development.
  • Review and draft discovery responses, briefs, motions, and memoranda with attention to detail and legal accuracy.
  • Assist in conducting depositions and other fact-finding tasks as part of case preparation.
  • Help develop comprehensive case strategies and provide valuable insights based on legal expertise.
  • Adhere to firm policies and practices, ensuring all work meets high professional standards and deadlines.
  • Engage in physical and sedentary activities essential to legal practice, including computer work, virtual meetings, and conference calls.

Requirements:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in New York; admission to practice in AZ is a plus.
  • 8+ years of litigation experience, preferably at an AmLaw 100 firm.
  • Experience in product liability and complex commercial litigation; pharmaceutical and medical device industry knowledge is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality legal documents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good business judgment and ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills, including persuasive and influential abilities.
  • Conceptual thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Management skills to supervise and mentor junior associates.

Education and Certifications:

  • JD degree from a nationally recognized law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Additional degrees such as MD, MPH, PharmD, or Epidemiology are preferred but not required.
