A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a talented and driven Mid-level Financial Services and Securities Enforcement Associate Attorney. This role is essential for contributing to the growth and success of the firm’s financial services and securities enforcement practice. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in managing litigation and developing strategies, including investigating cases, responding to complaints, managing discovery, drafting and arguing motions, taking depositions, and guiding cases through trial. Experience with complex litigation, particularly in the financial services industry or financial fraud, is highly valued.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigate financial services and securities enforcement matters, and manage responses to complaints.
  • Oversee and execute discovery processes, including document review, production, and organization.
  • Draft and argue motions, and participate in hearings and court proceedings.
  • Take depositions and develop case strategies to effectively navigate cases through trial.
  • Manage sophisticated litigation, including large exposure cases.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, business teams, and legal teams to formulate and implement litigation strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys and support staff.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a first-tier law firm with a focus on financial services and securities enforcement.
  • Proven experience handling complex litigation and high-stakes financial fraud cases.
  • Strong academic background with a solid record of legal scholarship.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with clients and colleagues.
  • Licensed to practice law in Washington, DC is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the DC Bar is preferred.

Skills:

  • Expertise in managing sophisticated litigation and complex financial services cases.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents and presenting persuasive arguments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and work independently.
  • Judicial law clerk experience is highly valued.
