Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a mid-level to senior associate attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on plaintiff representation, particularly in cases involving sexual abuse survivors. Location:

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of civil litigation, including drafting complaints, responding to discovery, conducting depositions, and preparing cases for trial.
  • Independently manage a caseload, developing specialized expertise in a specific area of law.
  • Represent survivors of sexual abuse, ensuring they receive justice through zealous advocacy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to strategize on case development and resolution.
  • Take ownership of case files, and communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and developments.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience practicing civil litigation.
  • Experience representing plaintiffs in injury matters preferred; applicants with other relevant litigation experience, including insurance defense, will also be considered.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a caseload and handle complex legal issues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging legal environment.
  • Commitment to the mission of advocating for survivors of traumatic events.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in good standing.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil litigation procedures and strategies.
  • Strong drafting, research, and legal writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication and client-relations skills.
  • Ability to conduct depositions and prepare cases for trial.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in case management.
