CAIR is America’s largest Islamic civil liberties and advocacy group with 35 offices and chapters nationwide. Their mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. As a Staff Attorney, the selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating the legal intake process, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and participating in all aspects of CAIR-NJ litigation. They will also work strategically with the Senior Attorney, paralegal, and Executive Director, as well as participate in alternative dispute resolution and legislative advocacy. In addition, the Staff Attorney will assist with community education and outreach and build and maintain relationships with clients and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a . degree from an American Bar Association accredited school and be admitted in good standing with the NJ Bar. They should also have excellent research, analytical, written, and oral communication skills, as well as demonstrated leadership and a commitment to advancing the rights of low-income, Black, Muslim, people of color, and/or immigrant communities. Bilingual skills in Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, or other relevant languages are preferred, as well as knowledge of the New Jersey Muslim community and experience with employment discrimination and civil rights law. The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary of $65,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience, as well as fully paid health insurance, up to 3% IRA matching contribution, and generous paid time off. The work schedule is a hybrid remote/in-person schedule, with Mondays and Fridays remote and Tuesdays-Thursdays in-person.
