A growing and dynamic immigration law firm located in Fairfax is seeking an Affirmative Immigration Attorney. The firm specializes in removal defense, humanitarian applications, family-based immigration, special immigrant juvenile status, criminal-immigration, employment-based immigration, naturalization, and appellate and federal litigation.

Duties

  • Provide legal guidance to clients on immigration matters, including family-based petitions, adjustment of status, naturalization, and removal defense.
  • Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documents with USCIS, DOS, EOIR, and other government agencies.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Stay updated on immigration policy and regulatory changes, offering guidance to clients on compliance.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to ensure efficient and effective representation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and potential clients.
  • Manage a significant caseload and meet case completion metrics.
  • Conduct consultations for potential new clients.
  • Work closely with paralegals to process cases.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills within the team.

Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Certifications: Active Bar membership in good standing (Virginia Bar required).
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in family or immigration law (preferred).
    • Experience with special immigrant juvenile status cases (preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
    • Fluency in Spanish to interview and counsel clients without an interpreter.
