Job Title: Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A reputable law firm in Oak Park, IL is seeking an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic team. Duties:
- Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), handling both detained and non-detained cases.
- Conduct intake meetings with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
- Develop strategic immigration solutions tailored to clients' unique situations.
- Prepare and submit a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, and other USCIS filings.
- Review and edit immigration applications and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Liaise with law enforcement, government agencies, and community-based organizations regarding updates to immigration laws and policies.
- Provide strategic consultations to clients, assessing their needs and recommending appropriate legal actions.
- Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court hearings, ensuring they are well-informed and confident.
- Draft legal briefs and documents for various immigration-related cases.
- Effectively manage a caseload and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of legal practice.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
- Proven ability to manage a caseload and drive cases forward efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR proceedings, Detained Cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
- Prior experience with case management software is a plus.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to the State Bar.
Certifications:
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois (or ability to obtain licensure).
