Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a well-rounded and motivated Associate Attorney with a minimum of two years of experience in General Insurance Defense to join its growing office in Salt Lake City, UT. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of litigation matters, including general liability, product liability, executive liability, and business litigation for clients nationwide. Duties:

  • Manage a substantial caseload involving civil litigation and insurance defense matters, including medical malpractice, general liability, products and premises liability, financial institutions, and business litigation.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and orders.
  • Conduct and respond to written discovery, including drafting and filing dispositive motions.
  • Perform legal research and analysis, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prepare and conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses.
  • Review client documents and prepare case evaluations and status reports.
  • Assist with trial preparation, participate in mediations, and represent clients in court appearances.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and support staff.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in general insurance defense litigation.
  • Licensed to practice law in Utah state and federal district courts (admission to surrounding states is a plus).
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of state and federal court procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Utah, with good standing in the state bar.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in legal drafting and research.
  • Ability to move from case to case efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
