Job Overview:
A highly regarded law firm based in Annapolis is looking for a driven and motivated Associate Attorney to join its team, supporting senior partners in handling a diverse range of commercial, business, finance, and real estate matters. This position is ideal for a recent graduate, soon to earn their . in May 2025, who is eager to pass the Maryland State Bar and take on substantial responsibility. The Associate will be expected to manage assignments with professionalism, demonstrate initiative, and work independently while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on real estate matters, including transactions, zoning, land use, title issues, easements, co-owner disputes, and condemnation/eminent domain.
  • Assist with land acquisition and development, commercial leasing, and related legal documentation.
  • Draft and review contracts, purchase agreements, loan documents, and conveyance documents.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and business transactions with legal research, document preparation, and contract review.
  • Conduct detailed legal research to analyze and resolve issues, offering practical solutions to enhance outcomes.
  • Manage corporate client files and documents from start to finish, maintaining both electronic and paper records.
  • Review and analyze title reports, surveys, and organizational documents.
  • Prepare corporate documents for entity formation and maintain up-to-date client records.
  • Communicate directly with clients for intake, information gathering, and legal support.
  • Draft engagement letters, assist with client invoicing, and manage financial aspects of client accounts.
  • Manage and organize client files, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-through.
  • Complete special projects and related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to pass the Maryland State Bar.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with legal case management software and Microsoft Office 365 suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to maintain discretion and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong organizational ability.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school, expected graduation in May 2025.

Certifications:

  • Must be eligible to sit for the Maryland State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Ability to navigate commercial real estate transactions and business matters.
  • Strong research and investigative skills to support case development.
  • Expertise in using Adobe PDF Creator and Editor.
