Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a seasoned Commercial Attorney to join the global Risk team, contributing to the firm’s ongoing success by managing complex client contracts and providing strategic advice. This role requires a skilled attorney with expertise in contract negotiation, risk assessment, and commercial strategy, who will collaborate with multiple teams across the firm, including Finance, Business Development, and Information Security.

Duties

  • Address legal, ethical, business, and strategic issues across various areas.
  • Draft and negotiate complex client-facing contracts and agreements across different business sectors.
  • Ensure client contracts adhere to ethical standards and internal policy requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate business and legal risks in contracts while aligning with business goals.
  • Collaborate with firm partners to manage client agreements and commercial requests.
  • Draft and manage legal documents, templates, and client-facing communications.
  • Support and manage compliance and risk-related audits.
  • Enhance efficiency and scalability within the commercial legal support function.
  • Supervise and collaborate with the global Risk team’s administrative staff.
  • Work with other teams such as Finance, Business Development, and Information Security.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience, either in a top-tier law firm or in an in-house role.
  • Expertise in contract drafting and negotiation, with strong interpersonal and client-facing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high standard of accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to make risk-based assessments under ambiguous conditions.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and committed to delivering results.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications and Skills

  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document management tools.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
