  • Provide strategic counsel on employment policies, contracts, and handbooks to ensure compliance with applicable labor and employment laws.
  • Advise clients on risk management strategies to avoid litigation and regulatory issues, offering solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Handle all phases of employment litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, delivering high-quality legal representation and personalized advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to provide comprehensive legal services, including corporate, regulatory, and transactional support for employment matters.
  • Engage in business development initiatives to grow the firm’s employment practice, identifying new opportunities and nurturing client relationships.
  • Maintain an annual minimum of 1,900 billable hours, with additional compensation offered for hours worked above the target.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex employment cases, including class actions, wage and hour disputes, and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Experience representing clients in employment-related litigation, including both individual disputes and class actions.
  • A portable book of business is preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain client relationships, with a focus on delivering tailored legal solutions.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and litigation skills, with the ability to advocate effectively in court and during settlement negotiations.

Educational Background:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.

Certifications:

  • Additional certifications in employment law or related areas are beneficial but not required.
  • Ongoing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) focused on employment law and litigation is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional legal writing and research skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and actionable advice to clients.
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience guiding junior attorneys and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a focus on business development and expanding client relationships.
  • Ability to manage a heavy caseload while meeting billable hour requirements and client expectations.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive 401(k) retirement plan with firm contributions.
  • Health and dental insurance plans with firm contributions.
  • Additional compensation for billable hours beyond the 1,900-hour minimum, paid at $50/hour for each extra hour billed.
  • Generous vacation and paid time off policy.
  • Access to a subsidized gym membership and other wellness programs.
