Duties

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draft case-specific legal documents.
  • Represent clients at pretrial hearings and provide counsel following each hearing to determine optimal legal strategies.
  • Handle court appearances, trial proceedings, motions, witness interviews, and extensive legal research.
  • Assess probable case outcomes by analyzing legal precedents and applying relevant laws.
  • Manage a varied caseload effectively, maintaining thorough records and timelines.
  • Deliver detailed legal analyses to inform clients of potential case benefits or risks.
  • Gather and organize evidence to support the defense and challenge the prosecution’s case.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and establish case objectives; conduct witness interviews and gather expert testimonials to fortify the client’s position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in criminal defense.
  • Proven expertise in handling complex cases across federal, state, and local courts.
  • Strong team collaboration skills, including the ability to strategize and work closely with fellow attorneys and legal support staff.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active State Bar membership.

Certifications

  • Valid law license to practice within the jurisdiction of Houston, TX.
