The law firm, located in St. Louis, is seeking a Mid-level Patent Agent with a strong academic background and substantial experience in patent preparation and prosecution. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrical engineering or computer science and a focus on software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, and machine learning/artificial intelligence. Admission to the USPTO is a prerequisite for this role.
Duties:
- Conduct patent searches and analyses to assess the patentability of inventions.
- Draft and prosecute patent applications in compliance with USPTO regulations.
- Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent filings.
- Respond to office actions and other communications from the USPTO.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support patent prosecution activities.
- Provide guidance on patent strategy and portfolio management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
- Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
- The solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
- Data science/AI or networking technologies, especially network security.
- Machine learning/artificial intelligence, in addition to data science and hardware security.
