Duties:

  • Prepare and file legal documents, including briefs, motions, and other court filings.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and court proceedings as needed.
  • Participate in settlement discussions and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Maintained organized case files and tracked key deadlines and requirements.
  • Stay current with developments in IP law, particularly patent law, to provide informed advice to clients.

Requirements:

  • 2 to 6 years of litigation experience, preferably in intellectual property law.
  • Registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Strong background in litigation with a focus on intellectual property, particularly patents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in managing case timelines, billable hours, and client relations.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active registration with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).

Skills:

  • Expertise in intellectual property law, especially patent litigation.
  • Strong litigation skills with a focus on developing case strategies and handling legal proceedings.
  • Advanced legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • High proficiency in case management, including meeting deadlines and maintaining detailed records.
  • Proficient in using legal software and tools relevant to IP litigation.

Location:

  • Detroit Metro, MI (willingness to relocate to Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, or Texas is preferred).
