A law firm in Pasadena, CA, is seeking a skilled Commercial and Complex Litigation Associate Attorney with expertise in California and federal wage and hour laws. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in defending against wage and hour litigation, including class actions, and possess strong communication and strategic skills.

Job Duties:

  • Defend clients in wage and hour litigation matters, focusing on California and federal laws related to overtime, meal, and rest periods.
  • Independently prepare and respond to written discovery requests in wage and hour cases with limited supervision.
  • Conduct depositions and handle discovery-related motions effectively, ensuring compliance with legal standards and deadlines.
  • Develop and implement discovery plans, overseeing execution to ensure thorough and timely completion.
  • Draft persuasive legal documents, including motions opposing class certification in wage and hour disputes.
  • Interface directly with clients, conveying professionalism and competence in legal and strategic aspects of wage and hour litigation.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and internal teams, ensuring alignment on case strategy and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience focused on defending wage and hour litigation, preferably including class actions.
  • In-depth knowledge of California and federal wage and hour laws, regulations, and precedent.
  • Proven ability to independently manage discovery processes and litigation tasks.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a demonstrated ability to craft persuasive legal arguments and motions.
  • Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in commercial litigation beyond wage and hour matters is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery tools and document management systems.
  • Trial preparation and courtroom experience would be beneficial.
