A law firm is seeking a seasoned Litigation Attorney specializing in Trust and Estate Controversy to join their team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in trust, estate, and guardianship litigation, demonstrating strong advocacy, research, and negotiation skills. This role requires managing high-volume caseloads efficiently, preparing for trials, and maintaining excellent client relations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Litigate trust, estate, and guardianship controversies.
  • Manage all aspects of trial preparation, including file responsibility, motion practice, and depositions.
  • Represent clients in courtroom proceedings, ensuring a high level of advocacy.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes efficiently.
  • Advise clients on trust, estate, and guardianship administration.
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized case files.
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, keeping them informed about case progress.
  • Develop case strategies and provide legal counsel to clients.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in litigation, with a strong preference for trust, estate, and guardianship controversies.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
  • Demonstrated interest and expertise in trust, estate, and guardianship litigation and administration.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Trial preparation and courtroom experience.
  • Experience with file responsibility, motion practice, and depositions.
  • Exceptional advocacy, research, writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Must be an active member in good standing with the Illinois State Bar.
