A law firm in Madison is seeking a Patent Agent or Engineer. The Patent Agent or Engineer will be responsible for patent drafting and prosecution, with a focus on electrical engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, or robotics. Experience in AI-related fields, such as machine learning and data analytics, is preferred. Additionally, involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is advantageous. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for collaborating with clients, attorneys, and staff.

 

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, AI, data science, machine learning, or robotics
  • Prosecute patent applications before the USPTO
  • Conduct patent analysis and provide opinions of counsel
  • Manage patent portfolios
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics
  • 2+ years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
  • Experience with patent portfolio management
  • Admission to the USPTO (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
