A law firm is seeking a Senior Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate Attorney or Counsel for their Princeton, NJ office. The Senior Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Associate Attorney or Counsel will bring extensive experience in executive compensation matters to the firm's fast-paced Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation group. The ideal candidate will have a background in qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation, equity compensation, health and welfare plans, mergers and acquisitions, ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act), and ESOP (employee stock ownership plans). A commitment to client service, along with an excellent academic record, is essential. Bar admission is required for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
  • Draft and review executive compensation agreements, incentive plans, and equity-based compensation arrangements.
  • Provide counsel on qualified retirement plans, including 401(k) plans and pension plans.
  • Assist clients with non-qualified deferred compensation plans and compliance.
  • Advise on health and welfare plans, including compliance with ACA (Affordable Care Act) requirements.
  • Handle employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA and ESOP regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on employee benefits laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on complex matters.

 

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation.
  • Extensive experience working on executive compensation matters.
  • Knowledge of qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation, equity compensation, health and welfare plans, mergers and acquisitions, ERISA, and ESOP.
  • Excellent academic record from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in good standing.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Bar admission in the state of New Jersey.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of employee benefits and executive compensation laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Client-focused with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
