Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Attorney licensed to practice in New York or a recent graduate awaiting admission to the New York Bar to join its expanding Workers' Compensation team in Syracuse. The ideal candidate is driven, compassionate, and dedicated to advocating for injured individuals, and helping them navigate the complexities of workers' compensation claims.

Duties

• Conduct depositions of claimants, physicians, medical professionals, and other relevant parties.
• Perform in-depth legal research and stay informed about changes in workers' compensation law.
• Draft legal documents, including appeals, rebuttals, summations, and memoranda of law.
• Represent clients in hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings.
• Guide clients throughout the workers' compensation process, ensuring they understand their rights and options.
• Advocate for claimants to secure appropriate medical care and benefits.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
• Collaborate with support staff to manage case progression effectively.

Requirements

• Admission to the New York State Bar or pending admission (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
• Passion for helping injured individuals and a results-oriented mindset.
• Strong communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines efficiently.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar (or pending admission).
