Job Overview: A law firm seeks a highly motivated Junior to Mid-Level Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team in Los Angeles, CA. This role offers the opportunity to handle cutting-edge legal issues involving privacy and data protection, intermediary liability, defamation, consumer protection, advertising, unfair competition, free speech, terms of service, and the safety of minors on the Internet. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to provide full-service support to technology companies on regulatory, litigation, compliance, and criminal matters worldwide and serve in a product advisory role.

Duties:

• Develop litigation strategy and draft substantive pleadings for matters globally, including data protection, defamation, IP infringement, consumer protection, contract disputes, and more.
• Oversee on-the-ground counsel to implement litigation strategies.
• Guide clients through regulatory investigations by international data protection authorities, consumer protection agencies, and other international bodies.
• Draft written submissions, forecast potential outcomes, and advise on compliance strategies during regulatory investigations.
• Advise clients on risk assessments associated with new products, policies, business structures, and proposed legislation and regulations worldwide.
• Analyze reports of unlawful social media posts or moderation of user accounts.
• Research and present global analysis of laws impacting social media companies, including intermediary liability, hate speech, and defamation.
• Provide synthesized legal concepts and strategies into digestible advice for non-legal business stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of Commercial Litigation or law firm experience.
• Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity.
• Commercial/business awareness.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Strong time management skills and staying calm under pressure while juggling multiple projects.
• Excellent drafting skills with an eye for factual accuracy and compelling argument presentation.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
