Key Information: - Job Title: Senior IP Counsel, Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Biology - Location: Remote (United States), Los Angeles, CA, Cambridge, MA, South San Francisco, CA - Employment Type: Full Time - Job Requisition ID: R-184393 - Career Category: Law/Legal Responsibilities: - Identify patentable subject matter and create effective IP strategies - Draft and prosecute patent applications - Conduct freedom to operate analyses and protect software and AI/ML inventions globally - Advise internal stakeholders and decision-makers - Direct foreign counsel - Negotiate and draft licenses and other agreements involving AI/ML technologies - Develop strong legal strategies in emerging field Qualifications: - . degree or . degree from an accredited law school - Four plus (4+) years of experience practicing intellectual property law - Registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office - . or . in computer science, bioengineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, mathematics, or electrical engineering - Ten (10) or more years of experience practicing patent or intellectual property law - Five (5) or more years of experience practicing patent law in the area of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), deep learning, data sciences, computational biology, bioinformatics or bioengineering - Experience in conducting freedom to operate analyses and protection of software and AI/ML inventions globally through patent procurement, copyright, and/or trade secrets - An advanced degree such as a master’s degree or . in Computer Science, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics, or in another discipline with a dissertation or thesis having a significant AI/ML component - Solid understanding of basic molecular biology - Experience in pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of the drug development process - Excellent analytic and legal writing skills - Outstanding communication, and collaborative skills necessary to effectively partner with with and advise data scientists and other stakeholders in highly cross-functional teams - Strong management and leadership skills - Ability to work independently and in teams, prioritize workflow and work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced and evolving environment - Experience in . and/or foreign adversarial proceedings (such as patent litigation, Inter Partes Reviews, Post Grant Reviews, or oppositions) Salary Information: The expected annual salary range for this role in the .
