A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its team in New York, NY, with a focus on Education Law. This boutique firm also practices Labor and Employment Law, Developmental Disabilities Law, Corporate and Commercial Law, Civil Litigation, and Administrative Law. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain substantial front-line experience and take on significant responsibilities in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Duties

• Provide legal counsel and support to charter schools, private educational institutions, state-approved schools for children with disabilities, preschools, colleges, and educational services agencies.
• Advise clients on governance, compliance, employment issues, labor relations, policy development, audit defense, contracts, and transactional matters.
• Represent students, both with and without disabilities, regarding their substantive educational rights and civil rights.
• Handle litigation and quasi-litigation matters for institutional clients and individuals, including preparing pleadings, engaging in motion practice, and conducting discovery.
• Advocate for clients in state and federal courts, as well as during arbitrations and administrative trials and appeals.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the New York Bar.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience is required.
• Experience in education law or civil litigation is preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
