A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney to join their team in Michigan. This is a full-time, on-site position for a first-chair attorney who will manage their caseload in complex civil litigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing clients, providing legal advice, negotiating settlements, and handling all aspects of litigation. While the firm offers support from seasoned litigators, the position requires a strong ability to work independently and take the lead on cases.
Duties
- Manage a full caseload of complex civil litigation matters from start to finish.
- Provide legal counsel to clients on a variety of litigation issues.
- Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
- Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations.
- Collaborate with colleagues and senior attorneys when needed, but handle cases independently.
- Develop strategies for resolving disputes and maximizing favorable outcomes for clients.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates and manage expectations.
Requirements
- 1-5 years of experience in handling complex civil litigation cases.
- Strong knowledge of Michigan Tort Law and general legal principles.
- Excellent research, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage cases with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a collaborative legal team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines.
Education
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Admission to the State Bar of Michigan.
