A law firm is seeking a Talent Counsel to join their team in Sacramento, CA. The Talent Counsel will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal counsel to the firm on employment-related matters, ensuring compliance with US federal, state, and local laws. They will serve as a focal point for international employment concerns, contribute to policy formulation, and support the firm's benefits team.
Duties:
- Advise the firm on employment-related matters under US federal, state, and local laws.
- Act as a primary contact for international employment issues.
- Stay updated on emerging legislative and regulatory changes impacting employment obligations.
- Assist in developing policies, procedures, and training programs to enforce compliance.
- Review and refine internal policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
- Conduct training sessions on various employment law topics for team members.
- Assist in drafting and negotiating employment-related documents, including offer letters and separation agreements.
- Support the benefits team on matters related to compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, and immigration.
- Provide assistance on pre-litigation employment matters as required by the Office of General Counsel.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by firm leadership.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with exceptional academic credentials.
- 3-5 years of experience providing legal counsel, preferably in a corporate or professional services setting.
- Strong preference for experience practicing employment law within California and/or New York.
- Thorough understanding of employment law, encompassing areas such as discrimination, harassment, wage and hour laws, and employee benefits.
- Ability to offer sound legal advice with minimal supervision while addressing the firm's needs.
- Proficient in analytical thinking, negotiation, and interpersonal communication.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction preferred.
