Office: Firmwide Practice Area: Intellectual Property - CBPPG Job Description: We are seeking a patent agent with a minimum of 6 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in a law firm setting. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field, and strong patent prosecution skills. The candidate should also have experience drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications, as well as preparing patent opinions in chemistry, organic chemistry, small molecule chemistry, or a similar technology. Experience with responding to Office Actions issued by the USPTO is required. Responsibilities: • Draft and prosecute patent applications in a variety of chemical, biotech, and pharmaceutical fields • Prepare patent opinions and responses to Office Actions from the USPTO • Conduct legal research and analysis related to patent prosecution • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both in writing and orally Requirements: • Minimum 6 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience in a law firm setting • PhD in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field • Strong patent prosecution skills • Experience drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications • Experience preparing patent opinions specifically in chemistry, organic chemistry, small molecule chemistry, or a similar technology • Strong legal writing and research skills • Excellent written and oral communication skills Salary Information: • California Applicants: $225,000 - $275,000 (based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law) • Chicago Applicants: $225,000 - $275,000 (based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law) • Denver Applicants: $225,000 - $275,000 (based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law) • New York Applicants: $225,000 - $275,000 (based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law) • Washington DC Applicants: $225,000 - $275,000 (based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law) Benefits: • Paid Time Off • Paid Holidays • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance • 401(k) Retirement plan • Disability and Life insurance • Adoption Assistance • Backup Care for Dependents Required Qualifications: • Strong academic background • Registered to practice before the USPTO Location: We are open to filling the position in any of our US offices, providing flexibility and the opportunity to work with a diverse range of colleagues and clients.
