Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a Construction and Design Litigation Attorney to join their team in Denver, CO. This attorney will be responsible for managing their files and cases, primarily defending clients in construction and design litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in this area of law, as well as expertise in handling complex cases, including multi-party litigation and large exposure matters. Key Responsibilities

  • Handle and manage own files and legal matters independently.
  • Take and defend facts and expert depositions.
  • Engage and prepare experts, including handling expert disclosures and reports.
  • Represent clients such as developers, general contractors, design professionals, and subcontractors in construction and design litigation cases.
  • Directly interact with insurance claims representatives, including reporting, case assessment, evaluation, and strategy.
  • Conduct interviews and meetings with client representatives.
  • Manage all facets of pre-trial discovery and preparation, including large document production and database management.
  • Draft and argue pre-trial motions.
  • Participate in large exposure cases, complex construction, and multi-party litigation.
  • Lead mediations as first chair (preferred).
  • Delegate tasks to paralegals and manage workflow effectively.
  • Draft and negotiate construction contracts (preferred).
  • Provide representation in trial and arbitration proceedings as first chair (preferred).
  • Draft legal publications, articles, and presentations (preferred).
  • Show interest in business development and marketing efforts for the firm.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years of defending construction and design litigation cases.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado.
  • Skills:
    • Strong work ethic and proven case management capabilities.
    • Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
    • Exceptional legal research and writing proficiency.
    • Competence in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
    • Ability to work well with insurance claims representatives and manage complex case strategies.

Preferred Experience

  • First chair mediation and trial/arbitration experience.
  • Expertise in construction contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Experience with schedule and payment claims.
  • Experience in publishing legal articles or giving presentations.

Education & Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the Colorado Bar Association.
