Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an experienced Economic Development Finance Attorney to join its strong and successful economic development finance team in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will have multi-year experience in commercial real estate finance, public finance, or economic development finance. Candidates with training in tax, economics, or corporations (such as an LLM or an MBA) are encouraged to apply. The role involves providing support to the economic development finance team and requires existing exposure to, or a strong desire to learn, tax increment finance (TIF) law, tax abatement law, special assessment law, bond finance, and other methods of public-private finance.

Duties:

  • Provide legal support and counsel to the economic development finance team.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to economic development finance matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Assist in negotiating terms and agreements with clients and counterparties.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm on complex transactions.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Ohio State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion.
  • Multi-year experience working in commercial real estate finance, public finance, or economic development finance.
  • Knowledge of tax, economics, or corporations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tax increment finance (TIF) law, tax abatement law, special assessment law, bond finance, and other methods of public-private finance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Ohio State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion.
  • Additional training or certifications in tax, economics, or corporations (., LLM, MBA) are welcomed.
