Duties
- Advise employers on day-to-day workplace issues, including:
- Hiring and termination procedures.
- Compliance with wage and hour laws.
- Managing claims related to harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Drafting and reviewing employee handbooks and employment agreements.
- Addressing leave-of-absence policies and related issues.
- Provide strategic legal counsel to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal labor laws.
- Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including non-disclosure and severance agreements.
- Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes.
- Collaborate with clients to implement proactive measures to reduce risk and liability.
- Assist with training and education on employment law compliance for client teams.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience practicing employment law, preferably on the management side.
- Proficient in providing strategic advice on employment policies and procedures.
- Solid interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
- Willingness to take on significant responsibility in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Active membership in the California State Bar and in good standing.
