Duties

  • Advise employers on day-to-day workplace issues, including:
    • Hiring and termination procedures.
    • Compliance with wage and hour laws.
    • Managing claims related to harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
    • Drafting and reviewing employee handbooks and employment agreements.
    • Addressing leave-of-absence policies and related issues.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal labor laws.
  • Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including non-disclosure and severance agreements.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes.
  • Collaborate with clients to implement proactive measures to reduce risk and liability.
  • Assist with training and education on employment law compliance for client teams.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience practicing employment law, preferably on the management side.
  • Proficient in providing strategic advice on employment policies and procedures.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
  • Willingness to take on significant responsibility in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar and in good standing.

Skills

  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for client interactions and presentations.
  • Networking and business development skills are preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities.
