Duties

  • Prepare case reports and updates for clients and insurers in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Manage the full scope of discovery, including drafting requests, responding to opposing counsel, and handling depositions.
  • Make regular court appearances for hearings, motions, and procedural matters.
  • Assist in case preparation for trial, including development of trial strategy and evidence review.
  • Attend trials alongside senior attorneys to gain hands-on litigation experience.
  • Collaborate with a mentor and the litigation team to sharpen legal skills and enhance case outcomes.
  • Maintain communication with clients to ensure they are informed and engaged throughout the legal process.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in insurance defense, civil litigation, or professional liability defense.
  • Interest in or willingness to develop expertise in medical malpractice defense.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Strong legal writing and analytical abilities, with the capacity to draft clear, concise reports and filings.
  • Effective oral advocacy skills for court appearances and client presentations.
  • Collaborative mindset with a desire to work closely with mentors and partners to develop professionally.
  • Self-motivated, with a desire to grow into a leadership role within the firm.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of California.

Certifications

  • Member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
