This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, client consultations, and potential exposure to litigation projects. The ideal candidate will be experienced in patent preparation and prosecution, and possess the technical knowledge necessary to handle complex IP issues.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to intellectual property matters.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Prepare responses to office actions issued by the USPTO.
  • Engage with clients to conduct interviews and gather technical information.
  • Participate in litigation activities as required, contributing to both strategy and execution.
  • Assist in evaluating and protecting intellectual property portfolios for clients.
  • Stay informed of current trends and changes in intellectual property law.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and registered with the USPTO.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanical or aerospace engineering principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.

Certifications:

  • Valid license to practice law in Ohio.
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Proficient in patent preparation and prosecution processes.
  • Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.
