Job Title and Experience Information Position: Patent Agents, US (Computer/EE/AI/Semiconductor) Experience: 1-2 years' experience in patent prosecution Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics or related field Certifications: Registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Industry Experience: Software Development/Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and/or Semiconductor Manufacturing & Packaging preferred Job Description As a Patent Agent at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, you will be responsible for managing valuable patent assets and assessing patent risk for our clients. Under the supervision and guidance of partners in our Intellectual Property practice, you will perform a variety of patent-related activities, including patent prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, and due diligence work. Key Responsibilities - Procure patent protection and build IP portfolios for clients by working on innovative and cutting-edge technologies - Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients - Conduct due-diligence, landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, and validity assessment in collaboration with industry partners - Draft responses to rejection of patent applications from the USPTO and other worldwide Patent Offices - Focus on patent filings and support patent litigation Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications: - Ability to interact professionally with both internal and external clients on all levels - Proven ability to work as part of a global professional team - Attention to detail and ability to concentrate on project management - Establish and maintain internal practices, procedures and technology for coordinating and streamlining patent-related information, filings, and deadlines - Excellent writing skills and ability to effectively communicate with lawyers, firm management, staff, and clients - Strong project management, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines - Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing work priorities - Flexibility to work a flexible schedule and accommodate projects as needed - Diplomatic communication skills and ability to think creatively and make sound decisions Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a mentor or coach for other positions.
