A law firm in New York City is seeking a Junior Litigation Associate Attorney with 1-2 years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with senior attorneys and team members on various aspects of litigation and arbitration. This position offers exposure to sophisticated disputes and investigations, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, taking depositions, and assisting with court appearances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members on all phases of litigation and arbitration.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents, including complaints, answers, and memoranda of law.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Assist in the development of case strategies through brainstorming sessions and team meetings.
  • Manage and analyze information produced during the discovery process.
  • Take and defend depositions under the supervision of senior attorneys.
  • Support court appearances and, over time, take on independent court appearance responsibilities.
  • Contribute to project management efforts, balancing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ensure attention to detail in all written and oral communications.
  • Participate in the review and analysis of sophisticated disputes and investigations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to and in good standing with the New York Bar.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a litigation attorney.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Experience drafting litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Exposure to depositions and court proceedings is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • In-depth analytical abilities and intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in legal documents and research.
  • Effective project management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.

  • Experience with Excel and PowerPoint is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • International legal experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with sophisticated disputes and investigations.
