Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a Patent Engineer, Scientist, or Agent with a strong technical background and patent prosecution experience to join their team in Denver, CO. This role involves working on patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management for clients in various cutting-edge technology sectors. The ideal candidate will have expertise in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, microscopy systems, and imaging techniques. Experience in software and AI is also highly valued.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications
  • Manage and develop client patent portfolios
  • Conduct patent analysis and provide opinions of counsel
  • Support Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings
  • Stay current with changes in patent law and practices
  • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and team members on patent-related matters
  • Provide technical expertise in various fields, including optics, acoustics, and virtual/augmented reality

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a law firm or in-house
  • Demonstrated experience in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, and microscopy systems and imaging techniques
  • Experience in software and AI is a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics, or Biomedical Engineering (with an electrical or software focus)
  • Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
  • Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus
  • Admission to the USPTO is a plus
