Report a problem Staff Attorney- Stay Housed LA Program- Full-time NLSLA is seeking a licensed attorney to join their eviction defense team for the Stay Housed LA Program. This program aims to address the housing crisis in Los Angeles through a county-wide right to counsel program. The attorney will work directly with clients and engage in all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, hearings, settlement, administrative hearings, and trial. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $78,000-$86,000. Responsibilities: - Provide counsel and advice on housing matters and represent tenants in administrative hearings and unlawful detainer proceedings. - Manage a varied caseload and operate weekly "know your rights" clinics for tenants. - Prepare educational materials and participate in community events. - Collaborate with pro bono partners and work with student volunteers and pro bono volunteers. Qualifications: - JD from an accredited law school and active California State Bar license. - Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and experience working in a legal aid law firm are preferred. - Excellent writing, speaking, and organizational skills. - Passion for public service work and the mission of NLSLA. - Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced environment. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as business communication and web-based case management platforms.
