Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a Senior Associate Attorney with expertise in Municipal Law to join its team, providing legal guidance and advocacy for local governments across Texas. The attorney will work with city officials, draft legal documents, and represent clients in various legal matters. This position offers a hybrid work environment, with the option to work remotely and attend client meetings throughout Texas. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience practicing law in Texas and a strong commitment to public interest and government-related legal issues.

Duties:

  • Advise local government clients, including staff and elected officials, on legal matters.
  • Draft ordinances, resolutions, policies, contracts, leases, easements, and deeds.
  • Conduct legal research on state and federal laws and prepare legal memoranda.
  • Advocate for clients' interests in administrative and judicial bodies.
  • Prosecute cases in municipal courts.
  • Assist with legal matters related to land use, open meetings, employment, procurement, real estate, and utilities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience in Texas.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas and good standing.
  • Strong research, writing, and legal drafting skills.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including public speaking and courtroom advocacy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal research tools (Lexis or Westlaw).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • She/He is licensed to practice law in Texas (in good standing).
  • Current Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of Municipal Law, including budget management, elections, land use, and real estate transactions.
  • Familiarity with administrative law and government regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and cases.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to public interest and government-related law.
