The salary range for the Sales Tax Automation Senior Manager position is $95,000 - $250,000. Job Summary Company is looking for a STS SALT Sales & Use Tax Senior Manager to provide sales & use tax expertise to their clients. The STS SALT Sales & Use Tax Senior Manager will be responsible for marketing, networking and business development within his/her area of experience and specialization, identifying potential changes in sales & use tax policy and applying new policies to tax compliance. Job Duties The STS SALT Sales & Use Tax Senior Manager will be responsible for: Research Identifying complex sales & use tax situations Analyzing researched facts and sources utilized Developing relationships with in-state and out of state Department of Tax (DOT)/Department of Revenue (DOR) personnel Tax Compliance Conducting detailed reviews of sales & use tax returns Evaluating company’s current compliance processes Tax Consulting Drafting tax memorandums, tax opinions and other documentation Conducting review of client operations Reviewing client records Applying all applicable state tax consulting sub-specialties Ensuring tax engagement letters are adopted Assisting in the development of consultative sales & use tax strategies Managing the expectations of assigned clients Tax Controversy Drafting responses to notices from state taxing authorities Representing clients before any tax authority Providing assistance with exam support Tax Related Software Utilizing sales & use tax research databases and other sales & use tax-related software Tax Specialization Providing technical client service to multi-state companies Conducting negotiation of settlements and voluntary disclosure agreements Drafting technical memoranda regarding sales & use tax issues ASC 450/FAS 5 Understanding and applying industry standards Familiarity with firm policies and BDO Tax Quality Manual requirements Strategy Development Reviewing studies of sales & use tax implications Developing new or improved ideas to advance the position of clients Assisting with researching potential sales & use tax strategies Suggesting marketing approaches for new client acquisition Other duties as required Supervisory Responsibilities The STS SALT Sales & Use Tax Senior Manager will be responsible for: Supervising the day-to-day workload of STS SALT Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates Ensuring STS SALT Managers, Senior Associates, Associates and Interns are trained on all relevant tax software Evaluating the performance of STS SALT Managers, Senior Associates and Associates Assisting in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development Delivering periodic performance feedback and completing performance evaluations Acting as Career Advisor to STS SALT Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, as appropriate Other duties as required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The STS SALT Sales & Use Tax Senior Manager will need: Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or other relevant field Masters degree in Accounting/Taxation or . preferred Experience: Eight+ years of prior experience in state and local/multistate experience Prior experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis Prior experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions preferred Significant business development and marketing of sales and use tax engagements experience License/Certifications: CPA certification or other relevant certification preferred Software: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word preferred Exposure to and familiarity with standard tax applications and research tools preferred Language: N/A Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills Superior analytical and research skills Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously Capable of effective managing a team of tax professionals and delegating work assignments as needed Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel Executive

researched facts and the sources utilized prior to composing a detailed report or preparing a taxability matrix of the research findings develops relationships with in-state and out of state department of tax (dot)/department of revenue (dor) personnel tax compliance conducts detailed reviews of sales & use tax returns with the ability to identify most significant sales & use tax issues evaluate company’s current compliance processes and provide customized and automated solutions for companies to report their sales & use tax obligations tax consulting drafts tax memorandums, tax opinions and other documentation on various sales & use tax issues conduct review of client operations to determine states where sales & use tax return should be filed review client records to determine if proper resale and exemption certificates are maintained and develop procedures for retaining proper resale and exemption certificates applies all applicable state tax consulting sub-specialties and confers with other sts professionals when appropriate ensures tax engagement letters are adopted prior to engagement work commencing and manages engagements assists in the development of consultative sales & use tax strategies manages the expectations of assigned clients tax controversy drafts responses to notices from state taxing authorities represents clients before any tax authority on contested sales & use tax issues provides assistance with exam support tax related software utilizes sales & use tax research databases and other sales & use tax-related software
