This full-time work from home position will report to the Plymouth Meeting Trial Division office and all equipment will be provided. Our Senior Trial Attorneys are seasoned litigation attorneys with significant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation. As a Senior Trial Attorney, you will represent clients independently as lead counsel under both commercial and personal lines insurance policies, as well as be part of a larger team as needed. You will handle a mix of cases varying in complexity, severity, product lines, and specialized concentrations throughout all courts and agencies in the assigned jurisdiction(s). Key Responsibilities: - Demonstrate trial advocacy skills independently as lead counsel or as part of a team - Maintain efficient case management and work ethic - Utilize technology and collaborate with support staff effectively - Stay up-to-date on changes in the law, technology, and local rules - Possess and consistently perform with subject matter expertise and trial advocacy skills required for all NTD concentrations - Provide sound opinions on case valuations and communicate them promptly to clients and claims - Establish and maintain professional relationships with key associates within Office of the Chief Legal Officer and claims partners - Utilize relationships to expand case referral opportunities within the enterprise - Communicate effectively and proactively with clients, claims, and internal NTD teams - Serve as a mentor for junior attorneys and NTD staff, providing guidance and training - May perform other responsibilities as assigned Experience Requirements: - Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school - Active license in the state in which the position is located - Minimum of 8 years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation - Highly effective and professional written and verbal communication skills - Highly collaborative and capable of working with staff and other attorneys on-site and remotely - Significant negotiation skills and ability to process information efficiently and effectively - Excellent analytical and legal skills - Resourceful and creative problem solver - Computer savvy with a solid understanding of basic software - Strong time management and organization skills - Leadership skills used in direct and/or indirect influencing - Familiarity with private practice of law policy and ethical rules Benefits: - Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications - Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage - Paid time off and holidays - 401(k) with company match - Company-paid pension plan - Business casual attire Nationwide is an equal opportunity employer and celebrates diversity.
