Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced attorney with a strong background in immigration law, family law, and litigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling diverse legal cases involving immigration matters, family law disputes, and civil litigation. This position requires an attorney who is highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while ensuring excellent client service and a deep understanding of the law.

Duties:

  • Draft legal briefs for submission before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) and the United States Court of Appeals.
  • Represent clients during Asylum Officer Interviews, Adjustment of Status Interviews, Naturalization Interviews, and other proceedings before the . Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
  • Author motions for submission before the BIA; represent clients at Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, and Custody Re-Determination Hearings before the Immigration Court.
  • Prepare family-based petitions, asylum applications, abuse applications, and naturalization applications.
  • Prepare evidentiary submissions for deportation/removal proceedings, including exhibit lists and client declarations/affidavits.
  • Provide legal representation in contested and uncontested divorce cases.
  • Handle civil litigation matters involving business disputes, landlord/tenant issues, loan disputes, and violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Assist with worker’s compensation cases and personal injury litigation.
  • Engage with clients, particularly within the Chinese-American immigrant community, providing compassionate and effective legal support.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Valid attorney license to practice law.
  • Experience in immigration law, family law, and litigation.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft legal documents and communicate effectively with clients and courts.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations and meet deadlines consistently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Valid attorney license to practice law.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law, family law, and litigation.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal briefs and motions.
  • Experience with USCIS and Immigration Court procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to represent clients in a variety of legal proceedings.
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with a focus on the Chinese-American immigrant community.
