A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team in Richmond, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated attorney with 1-5 years of litigation experience to handle a variety of cases in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Duties

  • Review incoming cases, establish action plans, and prepare budgets to guide legal strategies.
  • Identify key pleading requirements and delegate appropriate tasks to paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Draft discovery responses, manage document production, and ensure compliance with all relevant deadlines.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings, ensuring detailed and accurate reporting.
  • Negotiate settlements, secure approval from clients, and prepare for trial as required.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients, colleagues, and support staff to ensure case progress.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of litigation experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia and in good standing with the state bar.
  • Prior insurance defense experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client and team interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn case management and legal software systems.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort with fast-paced work environments and the capacity to handle multiple tasks at once.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Virginia State Bar, in good standing.
