Job Overview: A well-established immigration law office in San Jose, CA, is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join a passionate and dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of immigration cases, including family-based immigration, asylum, consular processing, and removal defense, while managing a caseload and working closely with clients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Location:
Duties:
- Represent clients in both defensive and affirmative immigration cases before the EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) and USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services).
- Handle cases such as Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, BIA Appeals, Humanitarian Visas (U-Visa, T-Visa, VAWA), Family Petitions, Adjustment of Status, Consular Processing, DACA, and Naturalization.
- Prepare and review immigration applications, motions, and legal briefs.
- Meet with clients, preparing them for USCIS interviews and EOIR hearings.
- Represent clients at USCIS interviews and EOIR hearings.
- Manage caseloads efficiently and ensure all deadlines are met, updating the internal case management system as needed.
- Conduct consultations with prospective clients, offering legal advice and guidance.
- Provide training and support to staff, including drafting and reviewing educational materials.
- Stay updated on changes in immigration law, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate legal representation.
- Perform other duties related to immigration law as necessary.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) or LLM from an accredited law school.
- Admission to any State Bar (California Bar preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration law (preferred).
- Strong case management, legal research, and writing skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Strong ability to collaborate with a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Resilient and adaptable to the constantly changing landscape of immigration laws and procedures.
- Proficiency in case management software, Microsoft Word, Adobe, and other office tools.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of organization.
- California driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
- Proficiency in Punjabi or Hindi is preferred, but not required.
Education:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) or LLM from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Admission to the State Bar (Any . State, California Bar preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for commuting.
