Job Overview

A law firm based in New York City is looking to hire an Intellectual Property Associate Attorney specializing in litigation, with a focus on anti-counterfeiting and trademark and copyright infringement matters. Duties

  • Manage day-to-day docket of cases in federal and state courts, focusing on trademark, copyright, and trade dress infringement.
  • Prosecute and defend intellectual property claims, including trademark registration applications before USPTO and TTAB.
  • Review and analyze evidentiary materials to develop comprehensive case strategies.
  • Draft legal pleadings such as complaints, motions (including summary judgment and contempt-related motions), and temporary restraining orders.
  • Oversee discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and managing related motions.
  • Participate in court conferences, mediations, and trials when necessary.
  • Take and defend depositions, prepare witness testimony, and manage trial-related preparation.
  • Handle cease and desist letters, settlement agreements, and other enforcement actions related to trademark, copyright, and domain rights.
  • Participate in the civil seizure of counterfeit or infringing goods and materials.
  • Assist in online enforcement and administrative proceedings concerning intellectual property rights.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in intellectual property law and litigation.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive legal research, analysis, and writing.
  • New York State Bar admission, along with SDNY and EDNY court admissions.
  • Flexibility to travel when required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Must be admitted to practice law in New York State.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice in SDNY and EDNY courts is required.

Skills

  • Strong research, analytical, and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with the USPTO and TTAB proceedings is a plus.
