A leading labor and employment law firm is seeking a Traditional Labor Law Associate for its San Francisco office. This role involves providing legal counsel and representation to employers in matters related to labor relations, workplace laws, and employment litigation. Location:

  • San Francisco, California

Duties:

  • Represent employers in traditional labor relations matters, including National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) cases.
  • Advise employers on union organizing, corporate campaigns, card check, and neutrality agreements.
  • Assist in negotiating and advising on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Represent management in NLRB elections.
  • Handle grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings.
  • Provide legal counsel on workplace issues including wage and hour compliance, leave management, and disability accommodations.
  • Review company handbooks, policies, compensation, commission, and bonus plans for compliance with state and federal law.
  • Conduct management training on labor relations, discrimination, retaliation, and federal and state workplace issues.
  • Handle legal due diligence related to workplace law issues during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Obtain mass picketing injunctions and provide counsel on picketing-related matters.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, ensuring compliance with all workplace laws.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 4-6 years of experience in litigation or legal counsel work as an attorney.
  • Preferred experience in traditional labor law, especially dealing with NLRB cases.
  • Strong understanding of federal and California labor laws.
  • Admission to the California Bar.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Willingness to travel for business as needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active California Bar Admission required.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of labor and employment law, especially NLRB-related cases.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
  • Ability to provide legal advice on complex workplace issues.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus.
