This position will involve conducting sensitive and complex investigations into allegations against CFTC employees and individuals related to the programs and operations of the CFTC. The Investigative Counsel will also provide recommendations for appropriate action and maintain records to support reporting and compliance obligations. Duties Include: - Independently conducting investigations into allegations against CFTC employees and individuals related to CFTC programs and operations - Reviewing incoming allegations and maintaining statistics for reporting purposes - Conducting preliminary investigations to determine merit and scope of each case - Creating investigation plans and conducting on-site investigations using various techniques - Reporting to the Attorney General in cases of potential federal criminal law violations - Drafting Reports of Investigation and evaluating investigative files for compliance with standards and policies - Briefing senior OIG management and other officials on the status and results of investigations - Keeping current with investigative standards and maintaining the CFTC OIG Investigative Manual - Coordinating with other Offices of Inspector General and governmental entities as necessary - Serving as a Contracting Officer's Representative for investigative support - Serving as an OIG economist for research, analysis, and evaluation of economic issues related to CFTC programs and operations Requirements: - .
