A law firm in Columbus, OH, is seeking an Intellectual Property Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with a minimum of 2 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in patent preparation and prosecution, patent licensing, patentability and clearance opinions, portfolio management, and due diligence. The candidate must possess superior analytical, oral, and written communication skills and excel in a collaborative team environment.

Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting and filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Conduct patentability assessments and provide detailed clearance opinions.
• Manage and oversee patent portfolios, ensuring proper maintenance and timely renewals.
• Negotiate and draft patent licensing agreements and related contracts.
• Perform due diligence for intellectual property transactions and acquisitions.
• Analyze and interpret patent laws and regulations to provide strategic advice to clients.
• Collaborate with clients, inventors, and team members to develop and execute patent strategies.
• Represent clients before the USPTO and other relevant intellectual property authorities.
• Keep abreast of technological advancements and legal developments in the patent field.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution and intellectual property law.
• Demonstrated superior analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
